The Pectus Bar moves the deformed bone structure of the thorax (chest wall, sternum, etc.) from the inside to the outside using support and counter pressure, which corrects the deformity.

 

The implants are not suitable for replacing chest wall structures. The bars make it possible to press the funnel chest outwards. However, it is not always possible to plan or foresee the extent of short, medium and long-term correction of the deformity.

 

**The tunneling instrument reduces the sternum. The in situ pre-shaped implant can then fix and maintain this outcome. The cosmetic outcome cannot always be predicted prior to surgery.

 

Depending on the type of deformity, including its manifestation, symmetry or asymmetry and complexity (concomitant scoliosis, kyphosis, extremely prominent costal arches, etc.), the implant can be exposed to increase mechanical strain post-operatively.
